Old conventional two-stroke marine engines are a source of water pollution as well as harmful greenhouse gases and smog-forming emissions. The goal of Clean Wake is to retire and recycle these types of polluting marine engines and to encourage the uptake of cleaner and more efficient four-stroke alternatives.
Clean Wake was launched in partnership with Environment Canada, Honda Marine, and the Federation of Ontario Cottager’s Associations. Recreational boaters across Ontario could trade in their old two-stroke marine engines for a 10% discount on a new Honda four-stroke marine engine. The exchange took place in 59 Ontario Honda Marine dealerships and was promoted through boat and cottage shows throughout Ontario.
